WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine Amanda Kelley has been named an athletic trainer for the 2024 U.S. Women's National Team, USA Hockey announced on Sunday, March 31 ahead of the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship.
The 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship will take place from April 3 to 14 in Utica, N.Y. Up to 29 games can be played featuring the top women's hockey players around the world. This marks Kelley's first time on the Team USA ice hockey staff.
"It's an honor to be working with the U.S. Women's National Ice Hockey team and representing the USA at such a great event for women's ice hockey," Kelley said. "The team has worked so hard to be here, and I am appreciative to have the opportunity to learn and work with such a great medical staff as we support these amazing athletes."
Kelley serves as an athletic trainer for the women's ice hockey and women's rowing programs at Holy Cross.
The United States has made it to the gold-medal game in all 22 of the IIHF Women's World Championships, winning the gold in six of the last eight tournaments (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023). Team USA has captured the top prize at the IIHF Women's World Championship 10 times, most recently in 2023, defeating Canada, 6-3, en route to the gold medal.
"We are really excited for Amanda to be a member of the USA hockey staff," said Holy Cross women's ice hockey head coach Katie Lachapelle. "We know how good she is, and we're glad the world's seeing it."
