NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Sophomore
Amanda Aslan scored a pair of goals, to lead the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Merrimack at Lawler Arena. The Crusaders improve to 8-4-0 on the season and 1-3-0 in Hockey East, while the Warriors fall to 2-8-1 overall and 0-4-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring late in the first period, when Aslan scored with assists from sophomore
Kaitlin Sullivan and freshman
Violet Carroll.
• Merrimack tied the game at 1-1 in the second period, as Kathryn Karo knocked a rebound into the back of the net.
• The score remained tied until the third period, when Aslan put a pass from senior forward
Lane Lewis into the top left corner of the net for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Abby Hornung made 20 saves for the Crusaders, while improving to 5-2-0 on the year.
• Aslan set a new career high with two goals scored, while tying her career high of two points.
• Holy Cross finished the day with a 27-21 advantage in shots on goal.
NEXT UP:
• The Crusaders return home on Saturday, Nov. 8, when they conclude the weekend series with Merrimack at 7 p.m.
