STORRS, Conn. – Freshman
Violet Carroll totaled two goals and one assist, but the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was defeated by No. 8 Connecticut 4-3 in overtime at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. The Crusaders fall to 7-3-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in Hockey East, while the Huskies improve to 6-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UConn opened the scoring 12:04 into the first period on a goal by Julia Pellerin.
• Holy Cross responded just 44 seconds later, when Carroll netted her first goal of the day.
• But the Huskies came back with two more goals in the next four minutes, both of which deflected in off a player's skate.
• The score remained 3-1 until midway through the third period, when sophomore
Amanda Aslan found the net to make it a one-goal game.
• Then with just over two minutes remaining. Carroll's second goal of the afternoon tied the game at 3-3 and forced overtime.
• But in the extra session, Kyla Josifovic scored to give UConn the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Abby Hornung made a season-high 35 saves for the Crusaders.
• Carroll set new career highs for both goals (two) and points (three).
• The Huskies finished the day with a 39-26 advantage in shots on goal.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 2, when it plays host to UConn at 2 p.m.
