Men’s lacrosse set to face No. 18 Army in Patriot League opener

The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team will open their Patriot League slate on Sunday, March 5, against No. 18 Army West Point. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Kuzniewski Field, and will stream live on ESPN+.

HOLY CROSS (0-5, 0-0 Patriot League) AT A GLANCE:
  • The Crusaders fell to Dartmouth on Saturday, Feb. 25, 17-6.
  • Senior Thomas McIntire led the way with three goals. Senior Dean DiNanno added four assists.
  • Seniors Cameron Magalotti and Connor Boyle, and freshman Tyler Marmo recorded a goal each.
  • Five defenders recorded a caused turnover. Freshman Julian Jenkins picked up a team-leading four ground balls. 
  • Junior Dawson Friers and freshman Liam Ray split the game in net, playing a half each. Friers recorded 16 saves in the first half, while Ray added eight in the second half as the Crusaders out-scored the Big Green, 6-5.
  • McInire is tied for fifth in the country in goals with 15, and is tied for 24th in goals per game with 3.00.
  • Friers ranks second in the country with 74 total saves, and is seventh in the country in saves per game with 14.80. 
  • McIntire is also on an ten-game scoring streak that started against Navy on March 26, 2022. Over the ten games, he has tallied 29 goals and four assists for a totals of 33 points.

SCOUTING ARMY (3-1, 0-0 Patriot League):
  • Army is coming off of a 2022 season that saw them go 12-4 with a 6-2 Patriot League record, earning a first-round bye in the PL Tournament, before losing to Boston University in the championship game.
  • In non-conference play, the Black Knights defeated #8 Rutgers, Wagner, and Mercer, only losing to UMass in the opening game of the season.
  • Army is led on offense by Reese Burek (12g-7a-19p), and Christian Fournier on defense (8 CT, 5 GB). Face-off man Will Coletti is 63-97 (.649) at the 'X' this season.
  • Goalkeeper Knox Dent carries a 9.08 goals-against average and .667 save percentage into the contest.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • All time, Holy Cross is 1-32 against Army.
  • The last time they met, March 6, 2022, the Crusaders fell to the Black Knights, 14-8.
  • The Crusaders' lone win in the series came on March 7, 2015, by a score of 7-6.
