WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross senior midfielder
Max Krause has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2021 Senior Class Award for men's soccer.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate-student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. Each of the candidates has displayed a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the pitch. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates have also been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior Class Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Krause is currently in his fifth year with the Crusaders, and earned first team All-Patriot League honors in the spring of 2021. He ranks second on the team in scoring this season with nine points on two goals and five assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, Krause has played in 61 games with 49 starts, recording 11 goals and 18 assists for 40 points. His 18 career assists are the tied for the most in program history with Wayne Mullin (1985-1988), while his 40 points rank 13th all-time. A three-year team captain, Krause carries a 3.32 cumulative grade point average with a major in economics, and is a two-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. The winner will be announced during the 2021 NCAA College Cup championship in December.
