BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman defender
Cayden Walton scored his third goal of the season, but the Holy Cross men's soccer team was defeated by Lehigh 3-1 at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Crusaders fall to 3-5-4 overall and 0-2-2 in the Patriot League, while the Mountain Hawks improve to 5-3-3 on the season and 3-0-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Lehigh opened the scoring in the second minute on a goal by Thomas Robertson.
• Holy Cross responded in the 20th minute, when Walton headed in a free kick by sophomore midfielder
Thomas Mancuso.
• The score would remain tied until the second half, when Robertson added two more goals for the Mountain Hawks on penalty kicks.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Lehigh finished the game with an 11-8 advantage in shots.
• Walton is now tied for the team-lead with his three goals scored this season.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when it plays host to Bucknell at 4 p.m.
