The Holy Cross men's soccer team will play its second straight home game when it faces Sacred Heart at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 6:00 p.m.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (1-0-1, 0-0-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 1-0-1 so far this season with a win over Manhattan and a tie against Hartford. This marks the first time the Crusaders have been undefeated after their first two games since the 2015 squad started 0-0-2.
• The Crusaders have scored four goals in their first two games of the year, with seven different players recording at least one point. Freshman forward
Evan Jones is currently the team's leading scorer with three points on one goal and one assist.
• Senior forward
Max Krause is now in his fifth year with the Crusaders, after earning first team All-Patriot League honors in the spring of 2021. He has two assists so far this season, after totaling one goal and one assist in three games played last spring. Previously in 2019, Krause led the squad in scoring with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has played in 53 games with 41 starts, recording nine goals and 15 assists for 33 points. Krause's 15 career assists are currently tied for the fourth-most in program history.
• Junior midfielder
Matt McGonigle scored his first goal of the season during the victory over Manhattan. He has now totaled nine career points on three goals and three assists, with all three goals coming in his last six games played.
• Junior
Jimmy Joyce has started both of Holy Cross' games in goal this season. He currently owns a 1.37 goals against average with five saves, including four saves in the Hartford game to tie his career high.

Taj Salawu are serving as the Crusaders' captains this season.
Scouting the Pioneers (0-2-0, 0-0-0 NEC):
• Sacred Heart stands 0-2-0 this year, having dropped its first two games to Siena and Massachusetts.
• Sophomore midfielder Will Pearce has scored the Pioneers' only goal so far this season, netting his first career goal during the Siena game.
• Junior Justin Siegel and freshman Kevin Siwik have split time in goal for Sacred Heart, combining for a 2.00 goals against average and eight saves.
Series History:
• Holy Cross holds a 9-8-0 lead in the all-time series with Sacred Heart, including a 3-1-0 mark in the last four meetings.
• The Crusaders and the Pioneers last played on Sept. 21, 2016, when Sacred Heart won 3-1 in Fairfield.
