WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team dominated Colgate, 11-5, at Kuzniewski Field. Led by a five-point outing from Sean Mullaney, the Crusaders took down the Raiders for the fourth-consecutive time.
Matt Farrell broke the all-time single-season caused turnover record at Holy Cross with a team-high three. The senior defender now owns 33 caused turnovers on the season.
Holy Cross (6-5, 3-3 PL) jumped to a 1-0 lead on the opening shot of the game on a man-up opportunity from Drew Babiak. The Crusaders defense held strong in the first quarter and did not allow a Colgate (3-8, 1-5 PL) shot in the first 15-minutes of the game.
In the second quarter, the Crusaders went on to score three more goals between Justin Lynskey (2) and Mullaney to hold a 4-0 lead before Colgate was able to score.
The Crusaders showed domination in the final 15 minutes of action, as they rattled off four goals to take a commanding 10-3 lead with 7:04 to play in the game. In that run, Will Spangenberg scored twice and Sean New fired off a 70-yard goal.
The Raiders outscored Holy Cross in the final five minutes, 2-1, but a comeback would not be possible.
Dan O'Connell had a commanding day at the faceoff, winning 17 of the 20 faceoffs in the game.
The Crusaders' defense put together 12 caused turnovers.
