Men's Track And Field Finishes Seventh At Joe Donahue Games

THE BASICS

The Lead: Three members of the Holy Cross men's track and field team set new career-best highs in their respective events including sophomore Michael Andre (Feeding Hills, Mass.), senior co-captain Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) and junior Dennis Muldoon (Weymouth, Mass.) as the team finished seventh of eight at the Joe Donahue Games on Friday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  •  Andre took a third place finish in the 800 meter run with a career-best time of 1:55.77, beating his best time previously set at last year's Joe Donahue Games. 
  •  In the one mile run, Dutton and Muldoon put up career-best numbers and finishing in eighth (4:16.22) and ninth (4:17.22), respectively. 
  •  More top Crusader performances came from senior co-captain Mike Galasso (Danvers, Mass.) in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.96 as freshman Nicholas Boire (Manchester, N.H.) and sophomore William Ward (North Attleboro, Mass.) took eighth (1:07.25) and ninth (1:07.27), respectively, in the 500 meter run. 
  •  Junior Lucas Keefer (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished before Andre in the 800 meter run with a second place finish and a time of 1:54.37. 
  •  In the 1,000 meter run, junior James Harrison (Bronxville, N.Y.) clocked a time of 2:41.12 and ninth place finish. 
  • The 4 x 400 meter relay team comprised of Galasso, Dutton, Keefer and Ward had the top Crusader relay finish, taking the third spot with a time of 3:24.30. 
  • In the field events, junior Tim Dunn (Fords, N.J.) cleared a height of 4.20 meters and a seventh place finish, tying with Maine's Devin Burgess. 
  • Sophomore Fletcher Bonin (Portsmouth, R.I.) finished ninth with a distance of 11.94 meters as freshman Ambrose DeMarco followed in 10th with a distance of 11.44 meters. 
  • In the weight throw, senior co-captain Sean Carey (Newburyport, Mass.) threw for a distance of 16.22 meters and a fifth place finish. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE 

  • Holy Cross finished seventh of eight with an overall score of 34.5 points as Northeastern took the top spot with a score of 166 points. 

UP NEXT 

  • The Crusaders return to the track on Saturday, Jan. 31 as they head to Boston, Mass. for the Terrier Classic at 10:45 a.m.
