WORCESTER, Mass. - The Crusaders will host No. 4 Massachusetts on Nov. 16 at the Hart Center at 7:00 p.m.
Talking Points
• Last time out, the Crusaders traveled to Niagara for a two-game Atlantic Hockey series and came away with one point. Holy Cross dropped a 6-3 game on Nov. 9 and tied, 3-3, on Nov. 10.
• Three Crusaders reached career-highs over the weekend. On Nov. 9, Anthony Vincent recorded two assists for a career-best. On Nov. 10, two players marked new career records. Erik Gordon tallied 38 saves for his career best and Will Brophy added two assists.
• Two players lead the team with eight points. Freshman forward Matt Barry has scored three goals and five assists. Senior defenseman Johnny Coughlin has added one goal and seven assists.
• Four different players are tied for the lead in goals, with three. Barry, Frank Boie, Mitch Collett, and Charlie Barrow have all reached the three-goal mark.
• Coughlin, who has added eight points this season to push his career total to 48 points. With 11 career goals, Coughlin ranks seventh all-time in career scoring amongst Holy Cross defensemen. He ranks ninth in all-time defensive points and tenth in all-time assists (37).
• Spencer Trapp led Holy Cross against Niagara, with two goals over the weekend.
Hart Center Opponents
• The Crusaders' home slate has welcomed consecutive top-5 ranked teams.
• On Nov. 3, Holy Cross welcomed then-No. 3 Providence to the Hart Center as the highest ranked team to compete at Holy Cross.
Freshman Impact
• Barry ranks tied for eighth amongst freshmen in points per game at 1.00.
• Vincent has posted the second most points among Crusader freshmen with one goal and three assists for four points.
• As a class, the Crusaders' rookies have contributed 16 points, which accounts for 25% of the team's scoring.
• All of the freshman have dressed in the Crusaders' lineup.
Against Atlantic Hockey
• Each with eight points, Barry and Coughlin rank 12th in Atlantic Hockey in point scoring.
• Coughlin has tallied seven assists, ranking sixth in the league.
• Coughlin also ranks tied for fourth in points against the league's defensemen.
• Barry leads all freshmen in Atlantic Hockey in scoring.
• Averaging 3.00 goals per game, Holy Cross leads the league in scoring offense.
Scouting #4 UMass
• UMass comes to the Hart Center with an 8-1-0 record and undefeated mark in Hockey East (5-0-0).
• The Minutemen are led by John Leonard and Cale Makar, each with 13 points in nine games played. Leonard and Makar have both tallied four goals and nine assists.
• With six goals, Michell Chaffee leads the team in scoring.
• Between the pipes for the Minutemen is Matt Murray, who has played six games to a .943 save percentage and 1.67 goals against average.
• The Minutemen have a 33.3% conversion rate on the power play and an 88.6% success rate on the penalty kill.
• As a team, UMass averages 4.00 goals per game and gives up 1.89 goals per game.
Last Time Against UMass
• The last time the Crusaders and Minutemen met was Nov. 11, 2011, in Amherst. UMass came away with a 7-2 victory.
