Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s ice hockey downs Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team downed Air Force, 3-2, Friday night at the Cadet Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Jack Seymour got the Crusaders on the board just under five minutes into the contest with his third goal of the season, cleaning up a rebound off a shot by junior Ty Gagno.
  • Neither team was able to score in the second period, with the Crusaders outshooting the Falcons, 11-8.
  • Junior Ty Gagno extended the Holy Cross lead to 2-0 with 7:45 to play in the third period, snapping a wrist shot from the top of the face-off circle over the shoulder of the Air Force netminder.
  • Air Force broke up the shutout with under two minutes to play in regulation with a power play goal.
  • Seymour struck for his second goal of the game with 1:36 remaining, skating the puck into the empty Air Force net. The goal would become the game-winner, as Air Force cut the lead to 3-2 with 52 seconds to play.

BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Junior Connor MacKenzie recorded 33 saves in the contest, 14 of which came in the third period.
  • Junior Jack Stockfish led both sides with 13 face-off wins, marking his sixth game in a row with double-digit face-off wins.
  • Holy Cross held the edge in blocked shots, 18-14, led by Ty Gagno's team-leading four on the night.

UP NEXT:
  • The two teams will meet again tomorrow night, Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET to round out the weekend series.
