Women's basketball welcomes Navy to Hart Center on Wednesday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team continues a stretch of four out of five at the friendly confines of the Hart Center Arena as Navy comes to town for a 6 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Senior point guard Kaitlyn Flanagan entered the Patriot League top 10 in career assists last week at Army and fans can purchase tickets at the link at the top of the story for Wednesday's game.

Wednesday is the Crusaders' Mental Health Awareness game in conjunction with Morgan's Message and Faculty/Staff Appreciation night.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (10-7, 4-2 Patriot League):

  • The 29 points were the most that the Crusaders had scored in a quarter since also scoring 29 in the fourth at UMass on Nov. 20, 2024.
  • Head coach Candice Green's team shot a season-best 47.4% (9-of-19) from beyond the arc as Donnelly, Eddy and Foreman all made multiple threes in the victory.
  • Eddy has made three or more threes in four of her last seven contests and has shot 16-of-33 (48.5%) from beyond the arc in that stretch.
  • Saturday marked the eighth time in the last nine games that Holy Cross has held their opponent to 60 points or less dating back to Dec. 7.
  • Flanagan enters the game with 477 career assists and ranks second this season in the Patriot League at 4.1 assists per game.
MATCHING UP WITH THE MIDSHIPMEN (10-6, 5-1 Patriot League):
  • Navy's most recent scheduled game versus Lehigh on Saturday was forfeited by the Mountain Hawks and thus, the Midshipmen were awarded a Patriot League victory.
  • Last time out, the Midshipmen defeated American by a score of 86-68 on Jan. 14 behind four players in double figures including Zanai Barnett-Gay with 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
  • Zoe Mesuch added 17 points of her own in the win as Navy shot 47.1% (32-of-68) from the floor and led 22-6 after one quarter.
  • Barnett-Gay leads the team and Patriot League in points (17.7 ppg), assists (4.3 apg) and steals (2.6 spg). She is also the Mids' top rebounder at 8.2 per game.
  • Mesuch (12.4 ppg) and Julianna Almeida (10.4 ppg) also average double digits as Navy enters play with the top scoring offense in the league at 72.1 per game.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross won the most recent matchup between the two teams with a 66-55 victory in Annapolis on Jan. 3 of this season as the Crusaders used an 11-2 fourth quarter run to break a 47-all tie. Senior Meg Cahalan led all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Eddy added a career-best 21.
