Women's basketball heads to Army West Point for Wednesday tilt

The Holy Cross women's basketball team hits the road to battle Army West Point on Wednesday evening at Christl Arena with opening tip slated for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (9-6, 3-1 Patriot League):
  • Three different players scored in double figures and the Crusaders limited American to 29.3% shooting from the floor in a 65-48 victory over the Eagles on Saturday at the Hart Center.
  • Holy Cross led for the final 33 plus minutes of the contest and led by as many as 24 in the final two minutes of the game.
  • Senior Simone Foreman led the hosts with 16 points, while junior Janie Bachmann and fellow senior Meg Cahalan added 12 points apiece.
  • Foreman's 16 points marked her second-highest total of the season and she is averaging 10.4 points per game over her last five games.
  • Bachmann filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals in the victory. The assists and block totals marked a career-high and the three blocks were the most by a Holy Cross player since Lindsay Berger swatted three on Mar. 1, 2025 at Bucknell.
  • The Crusaders have held seven straight opponents to 60 points or less dating back to Dec. 7 and lead the conference in defensive rebounding at 27.6 drpg.
  • Senior point guard Kaitlyn Flanagan needs two assists on Wednesday to move into the Top 10 all-time in Patriot League history. Flanagan currently has 466 career assists, which ranks eighth in program history.
BROWSING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (12-3, 3-1 Patriot League):
  • Army used a big fourth quarter and rallied for a 64-57 victory over Boston Univ. on Saturday at Christl Arena. The Black Knights trailed 43-40 after three quarters before outscoring the Terriers by a 24-14 margin in the fourth.
  • Reese Ericson hit five threes and led the way with 17 points and the duo of Kya Smith and Camryn Tade added 15 apiece.
  • On the season, Smith leads the team in scoring (14.9 ppg) and rebounding (10.6 rpg). She tops the Patriot League in rebounding and ranks tied for 16th nationally while posting six double-doubles.
  • The Black Knights lead the conference in field goal percentage at 44.1% and rank second in scoring at 69.0 points per game.
  • Army has won seven of eight overall dating back to Dec. 3.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Each team won on the other's home court last year as the Crusaders notched a 61-52 victory at West Point on Jan. 22, 2025 and Army returned the favor with a 64-46 win at the Hart Center on Mar. 5. In the latter meeting, the trio of Berger, Flanagan and Foreman registered 11 points apiece.
  • The two sides have split meetings in each of the last three seasons and Holy Cross holds a 42-35 edge in the all-time series.
