Women's basketball opens homestand versus Lafayette on Saturday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team returns home to host Lafayette on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Hart Center Arena with opening tip slated for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Saturday is Education Appreciation Day and there will be a postgame autograph session with the Crusaders hosted by AG Signs and Graphics.

Tickets for Saturday and all remaining regular season home games are available through the Holy Cross ticket office.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (9-7, 3-2 Patriot League):
  • The Crusaders dropped a 61-46 decision at Army on Wednesday night and return home for a stretch that will see them play five of their next six at the friendly confines of the Hart Center between now and Feb. 2.
  • Senior Meg Cahalan led Holy Cross with 15 points, while junior Kendall Eddy added nine and fellow senior Kaitlyn Flanagan tallied seven points, five assists, three rebounds, a block and a steal.
  • Flanagan broke into the Patriot League top 10 all-time in assists on a Cahalan jumper late in the first quarter, which was the 468th of her career. She finished the game with 471 career assists, ranking her eighth in program history and 10th in league history.
  • The Plymouth Meeting, Pa., native became the fifth Crusader to join the Patriot League top 10 in assists and surpassed Maile Shimoda of Navy (2000-04).
  • Defensively, Holy Cross has allowed 60 points or less in seven of their last eight games dating back to Dec. 7.
  • The Crusaders held a 38-34 edge in the rebounding battle on Wednesday and has now outrebounded their opponent in 10 consecutive games. Senior Mary-Elizabeth Donnelly corralled a season-high 11 boards in the contest, her most since recording 13 at Navy on Jan. 8, 2025.
  • Cahalan has led Holy Cross in scoring 13 times this season and ranks fourth in the Patriot League in scoring at 15.3 points per game.
LEARNING ABOUT THE LEOPARDS (7-9, 3-2 Patriot League):
  • Lafayette used a big third quarter to take control of the game en route to a 62-49 victory at Bucknell on Wednesday. The game was deadlocked at 30 at halftime before the Leopards outscored the Bison by a 32-19 margin over the final two quarters including 16-8 in the third.
  • Teresa Kiewet paced Lafayette with 20 points and Sauda Ntaconayigize tallied 14 of her own in the victory.
  • Wednesday marked the Leopards' first win in Lewisburg since a 66-61 overtime victory on Feb. 16, 2013.
  • On the season, Kiewet has scored in double figures in 13 of the 14 games she has played in and is tied for the Patriot League lead in scoring at 17.7 ppg.
  • Along with Kiewet, there are three other players averaging double figures in Haylie Adamski (11.5 ppg), Ntaconayigize (11.1 ppg) and Talia Zurinskas (10.8 ppg).
  • Maddison Krug is the team's top rebounder at 6.9 rpg and ranks among the league leaders in blocks (1.3 bpg, 2nd) and rebounding (8th).
  • Lafayette has won three of four entering play on Saturday and has notched five of their seven victories on the road this season.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross swept the season series in 2024-25 including a dominant 83-42 victory in Easton on Feb. 19 as the Crusaders outscored the Leopards by a 42-22 margin in the first half and rolled to the victory.
  • The Crusaders have won 12 straight meetings against Lafayette dating back to Feb. 2, 2019 and hold a decisive 69-12 margin in the all-time series.
