The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team opens up the new year by heading to Maine for a 6 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 3. The contest between the Crusaders and the Black Bears will be shown live on ESPN+.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 14-6-1 with a 6-5-1 mark in Hockey East play. The Crusaders' 14 total victories this season are their most in eight years, while their six Hockey East wins are tied for the most in program history. Freshman forward
Violet Carroll currently leads the team in scoring with 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists. Freshman forward
Naemi Herzig has added six goals and 10 assists for 16 points, while senior forward
Lane Lewis has 15 points on four goals and 11 assists. In net, senior goaltender
Abby Hornung stands 10-4-1 this season with a 1.47 goals against average and a .941 save percentage.
Maine enters the weekend with an overall record of 7-11-2 and a 3-5-2 mark in Hockey East games. The Black Bears stand 2-0-1 over their last three games, including a 3-2 victory over Brown on Tuesday night. Freshman forward Isabelle Michaud leads the team in scoring with five goals and four assists for nine points, while freshman defender Lulu Rucinski has added eight points on two goals and six assists. Sophomore goaltender Kiia Lahtinen stands 6-10-2 with a 2.47 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.
After the game at Maine, Holy Cross returns home to face Boston College on Friday, Jan. 9.
