BURLINGTON, Vt. – Junior
Emily Crovo and senior
Alexia Moreau both scored goals, as the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team defeated Vermont 2-1 at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Crusaders improve to 14-6-1 on the season and 6-5-1 in Hockey East, while the Catamounts fall to 6-12-2 overall and 2-7-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Less than five minutes into the first period, Crovo scored the opening goal of the game with assists from senior
Lane Lewis and sophomore
Sarah Rowe.
• Early in the second period, Vermont tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Stella Retrum.
• Just over seven minutes later, Moreau scored on the power play to put Holy Cross back in front, from sophomore
Hannah Deck and freshman
Naemi Herzig.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders have now won three of their last four games at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
• Senior
Abby Hornung made 19 saves, while improving to 10-4-1 on the season.
• Both teams finished the day with 20 shots on goal.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross will be off until Jan. 3, when it travels to Maine for a 6 p.m. game.
