WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior goaltender
Abby Hornung has been named the Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week, for competition from Dec. 1-7. Hornung helped lead the Crusader women's ice hockey team to a 2-1 record in three games last week.
Hornung picks up Hockey East Goaltender of the Week honors for the fourth time in her career, after going 2-1 with a 1.33 goals against average and a .938 save percentage in three games. Her top performance came on Friday at Vermont, when she made 28 saves and picked up her fourth career shutout in the Crusaders' 2-0 victory over the Catamounts. Hornung also had 19 saves in Saturday's 2-1 win at Vermont, while posting 14 saves in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to Boston University.
On the year, Hornung now stands 10-4-1 with 1.47 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. Over the course of her collegiate career, she has a 17-20-4 record with a 1.78 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
Holy Cross currently owns an overall record of 14-6-1, while standing in third place in Hockey East with a mark of 6-5-1 in conference play (21 points). The Crusaders are off until Jan. 3, when they travel to Maine for a 6 p.m. game.
