WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross track and field teams finished hosting day one of the Patriot League Outdoor Championship on Friday, May 2 at the Hart Turf Field & Hart Track.

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Senior captain Molly O'Connor broke the outdoor 400m school record with a time of 55.01 for sixth to qualify for the final. The previous record (55.14) was set by fellow senior captain Haley Murphy on Apr. 19, 2025, at the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational.
• Junior Celia Kulis sits in first place (3,181 pts.) while senior Jane Feeney is in fourth (2,883 pts.) at the end of day one in the heptathlon. Kulis won the hept. 100m hurdles (13.98) and Feeney won the hept. shot put (12.04).
• Freshman Abby Desmarais had the fastest 100m dash time (11.71) to qualify for the final. She was followed by junior Giavanna Ciaravino in sixth to also qualify for the final (12.01). Desmarais also qualified for the 200m dash final (24.43, sixth).
• Senior captain Maura Switzer clinched second and the silver medal in the pole vault, clearing 3.97m. Sophomore Maggie O'Reilly placed eighth in the event (3.72m).
• Murphy won her heat and claimed third overall in the 400m hurdles (1:02.00) to qualify for the final.
• Senior Ella Grey (14.05, third) and Kulis (13.93, fourth) both competed in the 100m hurdles prelim to qualify for the final.
• Junior captain Alex Lusby placed sixth in the 800m run, crossing the finish at 2:09.31 to qualify for the final. 
• Senior captain Abby Hughes took sixth in the 1500m run with a qualifying time of 4:31.68.
• Sophomore Grace Ryan finished sixth in the javelin with a mark of 41.52m.
• The 4x800m relay team, including senior captain Abby Hughes, sophomore Annabel Murray, junior Abby Granrath and junior captain Alex Lusby, took fifth place with a time of 8:56.86.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Sophomore Michael Laflamme claimed third and the bronze medal in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.76m.
• Sophomore Tristan Miller clinched second in the 400m dash prelim to qualify for the final with a time of 47.93.
• Senior captain Brian Fennelly took third in the 110m hurdles prelim (14.44) to earn a spot in the final.
• Junior captain Liam Lyons (3:56.22, fourth) and sophomore Joseph Mahon (3:51.31, fifth) both qualified for the final in the 1500m run.
• Sophomore Matthew Perkins (53.94, fifth) and Fennelly (54.34, sixth) posted qualifying times in the 400m hurdles prelim.
• Junior Jack Ryan placed sixth in the javelin, throwing a personal best 59.71m. 
• The 4x800m relay team, including freshman Lewis O'Connor, senior Andrew Van De Mark, freshman Joey Ryan and junior Jack Noble, finished eighth with a time of 7:53.73.

NEXT UP:

• The Holy Cross track and field teams return to action for day two of the Patriot League Indoor Championship hosted by the Crusaders at the Hart Turf Field & Hart Track on May 3. Due to weather concerns, the meet has been moved up one hour for an 8:15 am start.
