Women’s basketball hosts Army West Point Wednesday evening

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will welcome Army West Point to the Hart Center Arena for an important Patriot League contest on Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (18-10, 11-6 PL): 
  • Holy Cross has won three of their last four games including a big road win, 67-60 at Bucknell on Saturday. Senior forward Lindsay Berger led the way matching career-highs in points (22) and field goal conversions (10) while adding six rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Junior forward Meg Cahalan added 14 points and was a perfect 6-for-6 (100.0%) at the free throw line.
  • Senior Lindsay Berger was named Patriot League honorable mention on Monday for the second straight week and third time this season. averaging a team-high 17.0 points with 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 66.7% (16-of-24) from the field.
  • Berger leads the conference in field goal percentage (54.9%, 135-of-246) and per SportsReference is the third best offensive player in the league by offensive rating (106.9) and eighth best defender by defensive rating (85.5).
  • Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Kit Hughes announced on Monday, Feb. 24 that Candice Green will have her interim tag removed and will serve as the permanent head coach of the Holy Cross women's basketball team. Green took over as interim head coach of the Crusaders in August, and has guided Holy Cross to an 18-10 record this season, including a 11-6 mark in league play. She has a 37-23 (.617) overall record as a head coach. 
  • Junior guard Kaitlyn Flanagan leads the Patriot League in assists per game (5.4) and assists (151). She needs one more assist for 400 in her career, 11 more to move into 10th on the team's single-season list and 22 more to move into 10th on the program's all-time list.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (21-6, 13-4 PL): 
  • Army has won five of their last six games, but fell 76-61 at Lehigh on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks clinched the 2025 Patriot League regular-season title. Reese Ericson scored 15 points with four three-pointers, four rebounds and four assists in the setback.
  • Trinity Hardy, a one-time Patriot League Player of the Week this season ranks second in the conference in steals per game (2.1), sixth in free throw percentage (73.7%), eighth in scoring (13.3), tied for eighth in assists per game (3.1) and tied for ninth in minutes per game (32.3).
  • As a team, Army leads the Patriot League in scoring defense (57.0) which is 33rd in the nation. In league games, that number jumps to 58.9, which is fifth in the league.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 42-34 (.553) in the series history against the Black Knights which began in 1991. Holy Cross 23-14 (.622) at home in the Hart Center Arena against Army.
  • In their last meeting on Jan. 22, 2025, Holy Cross picked up a 61-52 victory on the road in West Point. Four players reached double-figures for the Crusaders including sophomore guard Kendall Eddy who scored 16 points in the contest.
