ANNAPOLIS, Md.— The Holy Cross track and field teams concluded the Patriot League Indoor Championship hosted by Navy on Sunday, Mar. 2 at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The men's team came in fifth out of nine teams and the women's team finished in sixth out of 10 competing squads.
The men took home 53 points and the women tallied 48 points in the meet.
MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior captain Brian Fennelly broke his own heptathlon school record with a total of 4,935 points for sixth in the event. He previously set the record (4,903 pts.) at the Patriot League Indoor Championship on Feb. 25, 2024!
- The distance medley relay (DMR) team, including sophomore Joseph Mahon, sophomore Logan Mott, junior Jack Noble and junior captain Liam Lyons, set a new school record with a time of 9:55.16 for third and the bronze medal. The previous record (9:57.54) was set by Jack Welch, Sean Flaherty, Rigoberto Alfonso and Kyle VanDermark on Mar. 5, 2023, at the IC4A Indoor Championship.
- Senior captain Josh Exantus won the 60m hurdles final for the gold medal with a time of 8.12. Freshman Khalil Antoine claimed the bronze medal in the event with a time of 8.24.
- Antoine won for the gold medal in the high jump, tying the meet record, with a mark of 2.13m. He was named Rookie of the Meet and was the top scoring first year male athlete. The Connecticut native also took fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.76m.
- Lyons clinched second and the silver medal in the mile run final with a time of 4:01.94.
- The 4x400m relay team, including freshman Arthur Ribeiro, freshman Iain DeBoth, sophomore Luke Boothroyd and sophomore Tristan Miller, finished seventh with a time of 3:22.31.
WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior Ella Grey broke her own indoor 60m hurdles school record, for the fifth straight meet, with a time of 8.53 to clinch second and the silver medal. Junior Celia Kulis followed Grey in fourth with a time of 8.65 and senior captain Lauren Clark placed seventh (9.03).
- The distance medley relay (DMR) team, including junior captain Alex Lusby, sophomore Lindsay Gill, sophomore Annabel Murray and senior captain Abby Hughes, set a new school record with a time of 11:45.68 for fourth. The previous record (11:48.43) was set by Lusby, Kate Ashley, Fiona Doherty and Eve Feuerbach on Mar. 5, 2023, at ECACs.
- Freshman Abby Desmarais claimed third and the bronze medal in the 60m dash final with a time of 7.54. She also placed seventh in the 200m dash final with a time of 24.98.
- Hughes placed eighth in the mile run final with a time of 4:51.96.
- The 4x400m relay team, including senior captain Molly O'Connor, Desmarais, freshman Danielle DiEsso and senior captain Haley Murphy, claimed second place and the silver medal with a time of 3:47.92.
