Men’s ice hockey to host Sacred Heart for two-game set

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey welcomes Sacred Heart to the Hart Center Rink for a two-game Atlantic Hockey set on Thursday, Oct. 30 and Friday Oct. 31. Both games are set for 7 p.m. and will broadcast live on FloHockey, while Friday's matchup will be simulcast on NESN+.

THE CRUSADERS (2-5-0, 2-1-0 AHA):
  • Holy Cross enters the weekend after earning a series split at Atlantic Hockey foe Army.
  • The Crusaders fell on Friday, 5-2, before bouncing back on Saturday with a 5-1 win.
  • Senior Jack Seymour was named Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week following Holy Cross' three games last week. Seymour scored goals on Tuesday against then-No. 6 Quinnipiac and at Army on Saturday, and added on an assist each night at Army. Seymour leads the Crusaders and Atlantic Hockey, and is tied for seventh in the nation with a +8 rating.
  • Junior goaltender Connor MacKenzie picked up his first collegiate win in Saturday's matchup, and held Army to just two goals over 89 minutes of play across the two games. MacKenzie made 16 saves in 29 minutes of relief Friday, before making 21 saves in the full game Saturday.
  • Freshmen Dax Williams and Quinn McCall also recorded their first collegiate goal and assist, respectively, over the weekend in West Point.
  • Senior Matt DeBoer enters the weekend with 125 games played in his career, the second-most among active skaters.
  • Senior Mack Oliphant enters the weekend at 122 games plated, tied for the fifth-most among active skaters and tied for the second-most among active defensemen.

SCOUTING SACRED HEART (3-2-0, 2-0-0 AHA):
  • The Pioneers opened their season with a road sweep over RIT before falling to Stonehill in their home opener.
  • Last weekend, Sacred Heart split their series with then-No. 14/15 Ohio State, winning Friday night in overtime, 2-1, before being shutout Saturday, 3-0.
  • The Pioneers return 23 players from last year's squad while adding seven transfers to the mix.
  • The Pioneers are led on offense by Felix Trudeau (3-3-6) and Stephane Huard (2-2-4). Netminder Ajeet Gundarah has backstopped all but one game for Sacred Heart so far this season, posting a 1.25 goals-against average and .951 save percentage.

ALL TIME SERIES:
  • The two squads have met 97 times since Nov. 11, 1994, with Holy Cross holding the series lead at 49-42-6, including a 6-3-1 mark in the last ten meetings.
  • In their four meetings last season, Holy cross prevailed in three, outscoring the Pioneers 13-5, including 10-2 in the two meetings at the Hart Center Rink.
