WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell at Army, 5-2, Friday night at Tate Rink.

With the win, Army improves to 3-1-1 (1-1-0 AHA), while Holy Cross moves to 1-5-0 (1-1-0 AHA).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Army got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, before tacking on three more in the second period.
• Junior Connor Welsh scored his fourth of the season on the power play to cut the Army lead to 4-1 going into the third period. Taking a pass from junior Will Elias, Welsh sent a wrist shot through traffic that found its way over the shoulder of the Black Knights' netminder.
• Freshman Dax Williams picked up his first collegiate goal, slamming home a rebound in front of the net to cut the Army lead in half five minutes into the final period of regulation.
• Army sealed the win with an empty net goal with 2:30 to play.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Senior Louden Hogg recorded eight saves in the first half of the game, while junior Connor MacKenzie registered 16 in relief.
• Freshman Owain Johnston led both sides with four blocked shots. Johnston's 13 blocked shots so far this season rank second in Atlantic Hockey.

UP NEXT:

• The two teams will meet again tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. to wrap up the two-game set.
