Ten players record points in Men’s ice hockey’s win over Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team defeated Army by a decisive 5-1 score on Friday evening at Tate Rink.

With the win, Holy Cross improves to 2-5-0 (2-1-0 AHA), while Army moves to 3-2-1 (1-2-0 AHA).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Jack Seymour wasted no time getting the Crusaders on the board, sending a wrist shot from the blue line past the Army netminder.
  • Senior Matt DeBoer followed suit two minutes later, sneaking a rebound off a Seymour shot into the back of the net.
  • Holy Cross exploded for three goals in the middle period, starting with sophomore Matt Kursonis' second of the season five minutes into the frame. Grabbing a pass from freshman Quinn McCall, Kursonis walked the puck into the offensive zone before sending a wrist shot from the slot past the goaltender.
  • Senior Michael Abgrall extended the lead to 4-0 with his first score of the season on the power play ten minutes later, sneaking a shot from the point through traffic and into the back of the net.
  • DeBoer scored his second of the game a minute later on a breakaway, collecting a clear from sophomore Owen Kim and beating the Black Knight's goaltender glove side.
  • Army broke the shutout with two minutes to play in the second period with a power play goal.
  • The power play time piled up for both sides in the third, but neither team was able to score.
