MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Senior
Declan O'Flynn posted victories in both singles and doubles action, to lead the Holy Cross men's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Navy at the Wayside Athletic Club. The Crusaders improve to 3-9 on the season with the win, while the Midshipmen fall to 24-13 overall.
DOUBLES ACTION:
• After Navy opened the day with a win at the No. 3 position, Holy Cross posted victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to claim the doubles point.
• At No. 2, O'Flynn and senior
William Kelleher downed Tommy Kim and Steve Nguyen 6-3.
• Junior
Jeremy Clark and freshman
Henry Winiecki then defeated Luke Garner and Jason Kim 6-4 at No. 1.
SINGLES PLAY:
• O'Flynn picked up a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Jason Kim at No. 3.
• But the Midshipmen won the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches to claim a 3-2 lead.
• Holy Cross responded by claiming victories at No. 5 an No. 6 to pull out the overall victory.
• At No. 6, sophomore
Alessandro Bizzarri downed Aaron Gu 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, while sophomore
Camilo Illanes took down Zach Quattro 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3) at No. 5.
NEXT UP:
• The Crusaders return to action on Friday, April 12, when it plays host to Lehigh at 3:30 p.m.
