Women’s basketball continues road swing at Brown Wednesday evening

The Holy Cross women's basketball team remains on the road to face nonconference opponent Brown on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Pizzitola Sports Center. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (1-1, 0-0 PL): 
  • Holy Cross earned their first win of the season defeating Massachusetts-Lowell 61-49 last Saturday. Junior Simone Foreman led four players in double-figures with her fourth career double-double scoring a game-high 13 points to go with a contest-best 11 boards. The victory was the first as a Crusader for interim head coach Candice Green
  • Per Her Hoop Stats, under Green, the Crusaders have picked up an extra six possessions per 40 minutes. In 2023-24, the Crusaders ranked 330th in pace (66.1) and this year rank 202nd (72.0).
  • The Crusaders are also getting a higher percentage of their points at the free throw line this season (26.7%, 34th) compared to last year (15.9%, 287th).
  • As of Nov. 12, Holy Cross is one of eight NCAA programs to not have one of their shots blocked in a game (Toledo, South Carolina State, Prairie View, Nebraska, Long Beach State, Dartmouth, Bradley).
  • Through two games, junior guard Kaitlyn Flanagan ranks 18th in the NCAA in assists per game (6.5) which is tops in the Patriot League.
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 27-22 (.551) on the road compared to 38-11 (.776) at home in the Hart Center Arena.
SCOUTING THE BEARS (1-1, 0-0 IVY): 
  • Brown is coming off an 81-66 victory at Monmouth on Saturday afternoon. Gianna Aiello had a monster double-double with 23 points, 14 rebounds on 80 percent (8-of-10) shooting with three steals and two blocks while Grace Arnolie dropped 21 points to go with six assists, five boards, and three triples.
  • Aiello and Arnolie were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday for their efforts last week. Aiello averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game on 80% shooting with two steals per game while Arnolie averaged 14.5 points and 4.0 assists.
  • The Bears were slated to finish fifth of eight teams in the 2024-25 Ivy League Women's Basketball Preseason Poll following a vote by members of the media.
  • As a team, Brown ranks 11th in the NCAA in three-point attempts per game (32.5) which ranks second in the Ivy League, however, they are 153rd in three-point percentage (32.3) in the nation.
  • Per Her Hoop Stats, Brown is sixth in the nation in three-point rate (48.5%) and is 15th in the nation in percentage of points from long distance (44.7%).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 9-2 (.818) in the series against Brown which began in 1981. The Crusaders are 6-0 (1.000) against the Bears on the road.  
  • In their last meeting on Nov. 9, 2023, the Crusaders rallied from a 13 point first quarter deficit for a 62-54 victory. Lindsay Berger posted a 13 point and 12 rebound double-double in 17 minutes off the bench.
