WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's tennis team won all but one set on the day while defeating Clark 9-0 at the Corash Tennis Courts. The Crusaders improve to 4-5 on the year, while the Cougars fall to 1-4 overall.
Holy Cross began the day by taking all three doubles matches to pull out to an early lead. Freshman
Alessandro Bizzarri and sophomore
Jeremy Clark led the way with an 8-4 win over Graham Russo and Dariy Vykhodtsev at the No. 1 spot. Freshman
Camilo Illanes and sophomore
Matt Maggiacomo added an 8-1 victory over Tanner Honnef and Ryan Hovey at No. 2, while junior
Jimmy Hennessy and sophomore
Diego Tran Rosado downed Aidan Hurtado and Max Schweitzer 8-4 at No. 3.
In singles action, Clark picked up a 7-5, 5-7, (10-6) win over Vykhodtsev at the No. 1 position. Illanes downed Honnef 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, while Bizzarri beat Russo 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3. Other winners for the Crusaders were Maggiacomo at No. 4 (6-2, 6-2 over Hovey), Tran Rosado at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0 over Matt Lee) and Hennessy at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0 over Joshua Ofosu-Amoani).
Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, March 24, when it travels to Army West Point for a 5:00 p.m. match.
