WORCESTER, Mass. – Men's hockey senior
Matt Shatsky was named Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Shatsky recorded two points on a goal and an assist this weekend, while adding two blocked shots and playing on the Crusaders penalty kill unit that held Canisius to two-for-six over the weekend.
On Friday, Shatsky picked up his third assist of the season on senior
Alec Cicero's power play strike that cut the Golden Griffin's lead to two. On Saturday, Shatsky scored his first goal of the season, and second of his collegiate career, to give the Crusaders a 2-1 lead in the second period. This is Shatsky's first Atlantic Hockey weekly award.
Shatsky and the Crusaders will take the ice on Thursday in Springfield, Mass. to face AIC at 7 p.m., before returning to the Worcester on Friday to host the Yellowjackets in the back end of the home-and-home set, also at 7 p.m.
