Men’s ice hockey set to open home schedule against #6 Quinnipiac

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team is set to open their home schedule when they welcome No. 6 Quinnipiac to the Hart Center Rink on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on FloHockey.

THE CRUSADERS (1-3-0, 1-0-0 AHA):
  • Holy Cross picked up their first win of the season on Saturday in their Atlantic Hockey opener at Mercyhurst, shutting out the Lakers, 4-0.
  • Senior Louden Hogg recorded his second career shutout in his birthday win, making 15 saves.
  • Junior Connor Welsh scored twice in the contest, marking his first career multi-goal effort.
  • Sophomore Noah Eyre scored his first collegiate goal in the game, while sophomore Owain Johnston and freshman Dax Williams recorded their first career points, picking up an assist each.
  • Holy Cross is led on offense so far this season by Welsh (3-1-4) and Eyre (1-3-4). Hogg's 2.38 goals-against average and .891 save percentage leads the Crusaders' goaltending trio.
  • Hogg's 2.38 goals-against average ranks 29th in the country, and fifth in Atlantic Hockey.

SCOUTING No. 6 QUINNIPIAC (3-1-1, 0-0-0 ECAC):
  • The Bobcats have matched up with then-No. 3 Boston College, then-No. 7 Maine, Alaska-Fairbanks, and Notre Dame so far this season, falling to only Fairbanks so far.
  • Last weekend against Maine, Quinnipiac tied with the Black Bears on Friday, 4-4, before taking the shootout. On Saturday, Quinnipiac was victorious, 4-0.
  • Quinnipiac is led on offense by sophomore Aaron Schwartz (1-6-7), freshman Ethan Wyttenbach (2-6-8) and senior Jeremy Wilmer (3-3-6).
  • The Bobcats returned 16 players this season and added 11 to the fold.

ALL TIME SERIES:
  • Quinnipiac holds the all-time series lead 25-3-4, including an 11-3-2 record in Worcester.
  • Holy Cross' last win against Quinnipiac came on Feb. 12, 2005, in Worcester by a score of 5-2.
