WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore
Megan Schienbein of the Holy Cross field hockey team has been chosen as the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for October 1 – October 8.
In Tuesday's 6-1 win over Merrimack, Schienbein assisted on the opening score of the game, before picking up a second assist on the fifth score of the matchup. Schienbein was also a member of the corner defense that stopped all nine Merrimack opportunities.
On Saturday against Lehigh, Schienbein recorded two defensive saves on the afternoon, helping goalkeeper
Brooke Ross preserve her 12-save shutout. The first defensive save came in the third quarter amongst a barrage of corners, while her second came at the beginning of the fourth, also on a corner. Schienbein and the rest of the corner defense also went a perfect 18-for-18 on stopping Lehigh's penalty corner opportunities.
Holy Cross (4-7, 1-3 PL) will continue their 2023 campaign on Tuesday, October 10 when they welcome Queens University of Charlotte to the Hart Turf Field. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
