WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's rowing team had a strong showing at the 2022 New England Championship on Lake Quinsigamond, winning two gold medals and two silver medals on the day. The Crusaders also won the Lake Quinsigamond Commission Trophy as the men's team to record the most overall points The marks the first time Holy Cross has won the team points trophy in over 20 years.
The 24th-ranked Crusader varsity eight finished in second place in the grand final in a time of 5:47.036, coming in behind only Williams (5:44.986) and ahead of No. 21 MIT (5:49.823).
In the second varsity eight, Holy Cross recorded a second-place finish in the grand final with a time of 5:53.524, falling to Williams (5:53.454) by less than a tenth of a second.
The Crusaders won the grand final in the third varsity eight in a time of 6:04.477, finishing almost seven seconds ahead of the next closest boat.
Holy Cross also won the grand final in the fourth varsity eight (6:11.380), with a margin of almost six seconds over the second-place boat.
The Crusaders will return to action on Sunday, May 15, when they take part in the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond.
