NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Paced by a stellar performance from freshman Owen Egan, the Holy Cross men's golf team finished in ninth place at the Yale Invitational on Saturday, April 16 at the Yale Golf Course.
Egan led all competitors with a score of 68 after the first round, and eventually finished in fifth place with a total score of 142 (+2) over the two rounds.
After both rounds, the Crusaders finished with a score of 591 (+31) as a team.
COACH'S CORNER:
"The team played up to their capabilities during the first round, led by Owen Egan's two under par 68," said head coach Steve Napoli. "We held a one-stroke lead after the morning round, but we simply played poorly in the afternoon. Christian Emmerich bounced back from a rough tournament last week with solid rounds of 72-74. The Patriot League Championships are next, and we have gained a little momentum in the last few weeks that we will carry forward."
