SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Junior
Alex Elia finished in a tie for fifth place as an individual, as the Holy Cross men's golf squad came in eighth as a team in the UC San Diego Invitational at the Torrey Pines North Course.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS:
• Elia shot 74-66-70 to finish the tournament at six under par (210).
• Elia's 66 (six-under par) on day two tied for the lowest round in program history.
• Junior
Ryan Scollins (76-69-74) and freshman
John Scully (77-71-71) tied for 39th place with 219 strokes.
• Freshman
Rohan Shastry earned a 51st place finish, shooting 74-70-77 (221).
• Rounding out the field for the Crusaders were freshman
Leo Chu (73rd / 225) and senior
Brian Glennon (101st / 240).
• Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh of Loyola Marymount claimed the individual title at 13-under par (203).
TEAM SCORES:
• Loyola Marymount took home the team title with a three-round total of 846 (18-under par).
• Holy Cross finished with 866 strokes.
• The Crusaders' team total of 276 (12-under par) on day two was the lowest team round of the tournament, and one of the lowest rounds in the history of the program.
UP NEXT:
• Holy Cross will return to action when it takes part in the Shark Invitational at the Brookville Country Club in Glen Head, N.Y., from April 13-14.
