WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team raced at home for the first time this spring, facing Boston College and Connecticut on Lake Quinsigamond.
In the varsity eight, Boston College finished first in a time of 6:51.2, followed by Connecticut (7:03.07) and Holy Cross (7:08.88). The Eagles took home the Christensen-Irving Cup for their first place finish, which was presented by Melissa Christensen (Irving) from the Holy Cross Class of 2004.
Boston College also won the second varsity eight with a time of 6:51.67, with UConn taking second (7:24.17) and the Crusaders coming in third (7:35.95). The order of finish in the varsity four was Boston College A (7:36.9), Boston College B (7:49.58), UConn (8:02.95) and Holy Cross (8:31.5).
"Coming off the Jesuit Invitational, we identified a few opportunities to make changes before this weekend," said head coach
Andrea Landry. "We're proud of the ways the women are transferring their day-to-day progress on the water to their approach on race day. We look forward to training this week before racing at home again next Saturday."
The Crusaders will return to action when they face Assumption, Coast Guard and Mount Holyoke on Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, April 16.
