WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing team had 11 entries at the Wormtown Chase on Lake Quinsigamond this morning, with all finishing in the top-10 of their events.
"Another year of great weather at the Wormtown Chase. Thank you to Claudia van Haverbeke '79 and Kassie Gralton '79 for joining us!" said head coach
Andrea Landry. "This weekend was a full display of the team's depth and versatility. Three 8s placed in the top half of their field, highlighted by the 1V and 2V finishes in 4th and 2nd respectively only 6" apart."
"We also look forward to the Wormtown chase each year, as it is our annual opportunity to row our 1x rowing shells in honor of Grace Rett '22," continued Landry. "The singles are appropriately named after her most notable attributes: the Gratitude, Resilience, Accountability, Commitment, and Enthusiasm. We look to embody those same attributes every time the women hang on the handles of those boats. I was thrilled to have five of our athletes volunteer to showcase their speed in the 1x category. Rowing in this event demonstrates high skill and high mental toughness, especially in the 10pm headwind. There is no one to compensate for error. Congratulations to Lulu, Charlotte, Chloe, Sasha, and Liv!"
"We chose to test the teams ability to race twice by entering not only the 1xs event but also in the 4+s, where all three boats shook out in the top 6, highlighted by their 1st and 2nd place finishes. We're excited to get back to work Monday in preparation for our last competition in Shelton, CT. We look forward to welcoming all of our rowing families there in place of Family weekend! Go Cross Go!"
