LEONIA, N.J. - The Holy Cross women's rowing team opened its spring slate with a near sweep, winning three of four events at the Jesuit Invitational at Overpeck Park.
"The team showed great maturity coming into to our first race of the season without having been on the water in the last two weeks," said associate head coach
Anthony Delgreco. "All crews followed the designated plan and productively evaluated their individual performances in order to learn and build together. We are proud of the entire team and are excited to continue putting in work leading into our next races."
The varsity 8+ finished third in its time trial with a time of 7:49.6 In the afternoon A-Final, the V8 posted a time of 7:42.3, good for a third-place finish.
The second varsity 8+ won both the time trial and A-Final, posting a time of 7:46.4 in the morning and a time of 7:34.9 in the afternoon.
The third varsity 8+ won with a time of 8:08.9, 17.3 seconds ahead of second-place Fairfield and 28.6 seconds ahead of third-place Fordham.
The varsity 4+ won its matchup against entries from Fairfield, Loyola, and Fordham with a time of 8:36.07, nearly nine seconds ahead of second-place Fordham.
Holy Cross returns to action next Saturday, March, 28, when they travel to Boston, Mass. to face Bucknell and MIT.
