FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – The Holy Cross men's rowing team had four boats compete in the Occoquan Invitational on the Occoquan River.
In the varsity eight, the 21st-ranked Crusaders finished behind No. 12 Navy in their morning heat, posting a time of 7:09.9. Holy Cross then moved onto the petite final, where it placed first in a time of 6:56.9 ahead of FIT, Marietta, Jacksonville and St. Joseph's.
The Crusader second varsity eight began the day by posting a time of 7:25.8 in its morning heat, coming in second behind Navy. Holy Cross then won the petite final in a time of 7:06.9, defeating Hobart, Jacksonville and Marietta.
In the third varsity eight, the Crusaders came in second in their heat (7:27.4) before coming in second in the petite final (7:35.9). The Holy Cross fourth varsity eight placed fourth in its heat (8:29.5) and fourth in the finals (7:54.9).
The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, April 16, then they travel to Princeton, N.J., to take part in the Healey Cup.
