Field hockey opens Patriot League play at Bucknell

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross field hockey team will travel to Bucknell to open its Patriot League slate on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (2-2, 0-0 PL):
  • Holy Cross most recently shutout Sacred Heart, 1-0, in its home opener.
  • Freshman Meggan Fourie and junior Sinead Walsh are tied to lead the Crusaders with two goals each. Fourie leads Holy Cross with five points off two goals and one assist.
  • Fourie is one of only two freshmen in the Patriot League to be in the top-10 in points.
  • Sophomore Brooke Ross posted the first shutout of her career in the 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart. Ross made two saves in the game.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL (3-2, 0-0 PL):
  • The Bison have won their past two games against Temple, 2-1, and Lock Haven, 2-0.
  • Mary Kate Stefanowicz leads Bucknell with seven points off three goals and one assist.
  • Clara McCormick has played every minute in goal for the Bison, with one shutout,. McCormick has a 1.59 GAA and is averaging 3.00 saves per game.
  • Bucknell made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season, defeating VCU before falling to Michigan in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Despite both teams playing a Patriot League only schedule last season, the two teams have not met since 2019. The Bison won the 2019 matchup, 2-1.
  • Holy Cross last defeated the Bison in 2016, with a 1-0 victory at home.
