Crusaders ready for home opener with Colgate

The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team will play its first home game of the season this Saturday, March 13, when it faces Colgate at 4:00 p.m. at Kuzniewski Field. 

Things to Know About the Crusaders (1-0, 1-0 PL):
• Holy Cross opened the season with a 12-9 victory at Lafayette last Saturday. The Crusaders won their season opener for the second straight year, in addition to being victorious in their Patriot League opener for the third straight time (Holy Cross defeated Lafayette in 2018 and 2019, and did not play any conference games in 2020).
• Senior Izzy Grant led the Crusaders by scoring a career-high five goals during the win over Lafayette. Her previous career high stood at three goals, which she accomplished on four separate occasions. Over the course of her Holy Cross career, Grant has now recorded 49 points on 45 goals and four assists in 38 games played.
• Junior Jolie Creo recorded a team-best six points in the victory over Lafayette, tallying three goals and three assists. She tied her career high for points in a single game, after previously recording six points against Bucknell in 2019 and Brown in 2020. In 25 career games played, Creo has now totaled 77 points on 57 goals and 20 assists. 
• Junior Grace Flink picked up the win in the Lafayette game, making seven saves on the day. Last season, she posted a 5-3 record with 78 saves and a 9.29 goals against average. During her Holy Cross career, Flink now owns a 6-3 record with 85 saves, a 9.25 goals against average and a .541 save percentage.

Scouting the Raiders (1-1, 0-0 PL):
• Colgate stands 1-1 overall this season, and will be playing its Patriot League opener. The Raiders defeated St. Bonaventure 20-2 in their first game of the year, before falling to Albany 15-12 in their last contest.
• Sophomore Eliza Soutter has led Colgate in scoring this season with 11 points on nine goals and two assists. During the Albany game, she scored a career-high five goals.
• Freshman Amelia Cunningham has played all 120 minutes in goal for the Raiders so far this year, posting an 8.50 goals against average with a .433 save percentage.

Series History:
• Colgate holds a 25-12 lead in the all-time series between the schools, including four straight victories.
• The last meeting came on March 23, 2019, with the Raiders winning 13-10 in Worcester. Tara Atkinson led Colgate with three goals and four assists on the day.
