WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 4 Navy 18-3 at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders fall to 4-5 on the season and 2-1 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen improve to 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Navy outscored Holy Cross 7-0 in the first quarter and 6-0 in the second quarter, to build a 13-0 halftime lead.
• After the Midshipmen netted the first three goals of the third quarter, junior
Jenn Prince scored to put the Crusaders on the board.
• Sophomore
Hadley Cepiel and junior
Tess Prunier added goals in the fourth quarter, before Navy eventually won by 15.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Mackenzie Creagh and freshman
Emmy Cullinan combined for 10 saves on the afternoon.
• Senior
Racheli Levy-Smith totaled nine draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
• The Midshipmen were led by Emma Kennedy with six goals.
