WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Alexander Ruenhorst has been named the ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 16-22. Ruenhorst led the Holy Cross men's tennis team to a victory over Sacred Heart in its only match last week.
During Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Pioneers, Ruenhorst was the only Crusader to earn victories in both singles and doubles action. Playing at No. 4 singles, he posted a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Kevin Chao. Ruenhorst also teamed with sophomore Will Chen at No. 2 doubles to defeat Chao and Matic Podlipnik 6-3.
Overall this season, Ruenhorst now stands 3-2 in singles action and 3-2 in doubles play. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he owns an 11-15 record in singles and a 15-10 mark in doubles.
The Crusaders (2-0 overall) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they travel to Rider for a 1:00 p.m. match.
