NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Senior Jenna Gasparrini and junior Elizabeth Graves led the Holy Cross women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the National Catholic Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, on Friday, Sept. 20.
The Crusaders finished with 91 points, edging out fourth-place Walsh (92 points) and trailing only Notre Dame (18) and Dayton (70) in the 21-team field. Seven of Holy Cross' eight runners ran a season-best time in the meet; this is the Crusaders' highest team finish at the National Catholic Invitational in more than 20 years.
TOP FIVE:
- Gasparrini led the Crusaders with an eighth-place finish, running a time of 18:08.43 on the five-kilometer course.
- Graves placed 12th, finishing in 18:22.73.
- Freshman Eve Feuerbach finished 21st, clocking in at 18:43.79.
- Senior Allison McArdle followed closely with a 22nd-place finish in a time of 18:44.95.
- Sophomore Michaela Halloran rounded out the Crusaders' scoring contingent with a 28th-place finish, running the course in 19:14.80.
OTHER RESULTS:
- Sophomore Emily Foley placed 31st, running a time of 19:21.30.
- Junior Claire Hanlon ran the course in 19:29.64 to place 35th.
- Sophomore Paige Davis was 55th in a time of 20:04.16.
