EASTON, Pa. – Men's and women's cross country competed at the Patriot League Cross Country Championship hosted by Lafayette on Saturday, Nov. 2. Both team's competed against nine other schools.
Senior Abby Hughes was Holy Cross's top finisher claiming 28th place overall with a time of 21:49.5 on the six-kilometer course. The Crusaders finished in sixth with 220 total points. Army captured the team title with 34 points, followed by Boston University with 36 points and Navy in third with 69 points.
Freshman Sheila Purcell earned a 54th-place finish with a time of 22:34.0, while sophomore Siena Brunetti came in 58th at 22:39.7. Senior Caroline Gage (64th, 22:47.4) and junior Abby Granrath (70th, 23:00.7) round out the Holy Cross top five runners.
Junior Liam Lyons finished 43rd overall crossing the finish at 25:07.7 on the eight-kilometer course. The Crusaders finished in ninth with a total of 259 points. Navy captured the team title with 19 points, followed by Army with 49 points and Boston University in third with 97 points.
Senior William Schimitsch earned a 50th-place finish with a time of 25:21.6, while sophomore Joseph Mahon came in 82nd with a time of 26:03.8. Freshmen Lewis O'Connor (86th, 26:08.9), and Jack Larkin (89th, 26:23.8) to round out the Holy Cross top five runners.
The Crusaders return to action for their final meet of the season on Friday, Nov. 15 when they participate in the NCAA Regionals held at the Hopkinton Fair Ground in Hopkinton, N.H.
