EASTON, Pa. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team downed Lafayette, 16-4.The last time Holy Cross held an opponent to under five goals was on April 6, 2010, when they defeated Vermont, 11-1.

 

While the Leopards scored the first goal of the game at 13:39, Holy Cross strung together nine-consecutive goals between the first and second quarters. Within those nine Crusader goals, James Solberg scored his first collegiate goal and put the Crusaders ahead 3-1 at the time. Sean Mullaney and Drew Babiak each tallied two goals in the Holy Cross run.

 

Lafayette found their second goal at 5:43 of the second quarter, making the game 9-2. The teams traded goals in the beginning of the third quarter, but Holy Cross found dominance again with goals from Dan O'Connell, Brad Baker, and Waldron to close the quarter (12-3).

 

In the final 15 minutes, three Crusaders tallied their first career-goals, with Rowan Hart scoring a man-down goal. Herschel Halesworth, Gavin McNamara, and Jack Dougherty all fired off their first goals to cap off the commanding win, 16-4.  

 

The Crusaders saw 11 different goal scorers with four players recording a team-high two goals.

Connor Waldron and Sean Mullaney each led with two goals and two assists.

 

 

NOTES & NUMBERS:

  • Holy Cross outshot Lafayette, 45-24.
  • The Crusaders had just 10 turnovers.
  • Holy Cross won 22 of 24 faceoffs, led by Dan O'Connell (5-for-6).

 

CRUSADER LEADERS:

  • Six Crusaders had multi-point outings.
  • Three Crusaders had two assists in the game: Waldron, Mullaney, and Dermot Quinn.
  • Four Crusader goalies saw action. Jonathan Tesoro played 45:00 and made two saves. Holy Cross had three saves in the game.
