ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – The Holy Cross men's track and field team finished in sixth place out of nine teams on the final day of the Patriot League Indoor Championship on Sunday, February 17. The Crusaders totaled 31 points on the weekend.

Sophomore Michael Pichay had the highest finish of the day for the Crusaders, placing second in the triple jump. His best jump of the day came on his final jump, measuring 14.77 meters.
Sophomore Dan Dempsey placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.89 meters.
Senior Brandon Thornhill placed sixth in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, running a time of 8.41 seconds.
Senior Alexander Escada was sixth in the heptathlon, tallying 4,579 points. He finished in the top four of four events: the long jump, the high jump and the 1,000 meters.
Thornhill, freshman Will Hornyak, sophomore Gabe Piepergerdes and junior Freddie Halloran posted a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:20.58. Freshman Corey Kumamoto, junior Jacob Newton, sophomore Peter Mitchell and junior Bobby Tuzzio combined to finish seventh in the distance medley relay, clocking in at 10:30.63. Both relays were season-best times for the Crusaders.
Piepergerdes (10th, 1:05.93) and Halloran (11th, 1:06.00) had personal bests in the 500 meter run.
The Crusaders will return to action on Sunday, February 24 at the Boston University Last Chance Meet.
