Women's basketball heads to Brown

The Holy Cross women's basketball team kicks off a four-game road swing with a contest at Brown on Sunday, Dec. 1. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

Sunday's game will be televised on NESN and is available on ESPN+ for viewers outside of New England.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (3-1):
  • Holy Cross comes off a 68-42 victory over Merrimack on Nov. 23, its largest margin of victory since Nov. 18, 2017. Merrimack shot just .222 from the field, the worst field-goal percentage by a Holy Cross opponent since Loyola shot .220 on Feb. 25, 2015.
  • Sophomore guard Avery LaBarbera (19 points, 10 rebounds) and senior forward Lauren Manis (15 points, 20 rebounds) each had double-doubles. Senior center Megan Swords (17 points) and junior guard Jenay Faulkner (11 points) were also in double figures.
  • LaBarbera was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, Worcester-Area College Basketball Association Player of the Week and ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week for her dominant performances against Merrimack and Bryant, in which she averaged 22 points and eight rebounds a game while also totaling 11 assists and seven steals.
  • With her 40th career double-double, Manis is now tied with Amy O'Brien (1995-99) for the second-most double-doubles in program history. Janet Hourihan is Holy Cross' all-time leader with 67 double-doubles.
  • Holy Cross ranks fourth among all Division I teams in 3-point percentage at 43.1 percent. LaBarbera leads the team with a 48.1 percent success rate from beyond the arc.
  • With a 3-1 record, Holy Cross is off to its best start through four games since the 2013-14 season, when the Crusaders won their first six games of the year.
 
Things to Know About the Bears (3-4):
  • Brown last fell at home to Merrimack on Tuesday, Nov. 26 by a score of 72-57. Ashley Ducharne led the way in the loss with 10 points off the bench.
  • The Bears graduated four key players at the end of last season, including Shayna Mehta, who graduated with the second-most career points in program history.
  • Brown's three wins this season came against Maine, Central Connecticut State and New Hampshire.
  • Justine Gaziano has led the Bears this season with an average of 15.5 points per game.
 
Last Time They Met:
  • Brown got the best of the Crusaders in a tough 89-85 loss, with Mehta scoring 34 points in the Bears' victory at the Hart Center on Nov. 18, 2018.
  • LaBarbera had a career-high 30 points along with nine assists and five steals in the contest.
  • Manis scored her 1,000th career point against the Bears in a 27-point, 16-rebound performance.
