Game Notes

Holy Cross Travels to RPI
• The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will travel to RPI for a single game Saturday, Oct. 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y.

Recapping Last Weekend
• The Crusaders opened the season last weekend with a two-game series at RIT.
• Holy Cross dropped the first game on Sept. 28, 2-0, but did manage 25 shots, only being out shot by RIT by two.
• On Sept. 29, the squad managed to tie the Tigers in the second game, 1-1. Freshman Carlie Magier registering her first collegiate goal with assists from seniors Amanda Kewer and Danielle Doherty. Freshman Jada Brenon started her first game in goal and recorded 29 saves with a .967 save percentage.

Scouting the Engineers
• In RPI's two games so far this season, both losses, the squad has scored one goal while allowing five.
• Senior Josefine Hansen scored that lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Minnesota State Univiersity.
• The Engineers' other game was 2-0 in favor of the Maverickers.
Senior Jaimie Grigsby led the team last season as a junior with 10 goals and 10 assists.
• Senior Lovisa Selander posted a 9-16-5 record in goal last season and so far this season is 0-2 with a .933 save percentage with a goals against average of 2.02.
• RPI is 0-for-4 so far this year in power play chances, but has gone 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

Last Time Against RPI
• These two sides have not faced off since 2005 when Holy Cross went to Troy for a two game series, losing both games, 5-0 and 6-0.

Recapping the 2017-18 Season
• Last year, the Crusaders went 16-9-3 and with a 4-3 overtime loss to Franklin Pierce in the NEWHA Tournament.
• Holy Cross averaged 4.1 goals per game, while allowing only 1.8.

Inaugural Season in Hockey East
• This will be Holy Cross' first season as a Division I program and first as a member of Hockey East.
• In the preseason poll, the Crusaders were ranked tenth out of ten teams in the conference. Boston College, Northeastern, and Maine claimed the top three spots respectively.
• The team faced a few Division I opponents last season, losing to New Hampshire, Dartmouth, and Harvard, but also claiming a 2-0 win over the Crimson in Worcester.

Who's Returning
• Twenty-one Crusaders return for the 2018-19 season.
• Two of the squads' three top scorers from last season will be back .
• Senior Maeve Reilly is the top returning scorer as she had eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points last season.
• Senior Julie Matthias, who had 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points, will be back as well.
• Sophomore Julia Pelletier and junior Marcia LaPlante split time in goal last season and both will be returning for another go.


Fresh Faces
• Holy Cross welcomes eight new memebers to the Crusader family this year, including seven freshmen and one junior transfer.
Catherine Luciano, Skye Ziehwein, Sommer Ross, Carlie Magier, and junior transfer from Boston College Rachel Moore will be additions to the forwards.
Emma Lange will contribute to the defensive core and Sarah Street and Jada Brenon will vie for time between the pipes.tween the pipes.
