Biography
• An Emerging Leader in the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.
2017-2018:
- Played in 25 games as a defender and captain
- Recorded 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists, which are all career highs
- Was tied for first on the team with six power play goals, which was good for second in the league and is tied for eighth for the single-season program record
- Her 20 points led the team's defensive core and ranked fourth in the league
- Named NEWHA Defender of the Year and member of the First Team All-NEWHA
- Led the defense to hold opponents to 1.79 goals per game
- Led the penalty kill unit at 90.6%, which was first in the league
2016-2017:
- Played in all 27 games as a defender
- Recorded 12 points on four goals and eight assists.
- Scored her first collegiate goal, on the power play, in the 5-3 win over Plymouth State (11/4)
- Recorded two assists in a 4-0 win against Endicott (1/8)
- Her 12 points were second amongst defensemen on the team
- Helped the team to a 1.44 scoring defense which ranked second in the NEHC
2015-2016:
- Played in all 27 games
- Recorded eight assists
- Earned first collegiate point in 6-0 win over Manhattanville on 11/7
- Tallied two points in a 5-1 win over St. Michael’s on 1/2
Before Holy Cross:
- Played for the Bay State Breakers (2009-2015) of the NEGHL
- Team reached State Semi-Finals twice and USA Hockey-Nationals in 2014
- Four year varsity player for Hingham hockey team
- Team captain her senior year
- Team MVP 2014, Defensive MVP in 2012 and 2013, Hobey Baker Winner in 2012 for sportsmanship & character.
- SEMGHL All-Star three straight years (2012-2014)
- Boston Globe All-Scholastic Super Team Member 2014, Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic (2012-2014), ESPN Boston All-State Freshmen Team 2011, Named to Shriner’s All Star Game 2014, Boston Herald All Scholastic 2014
- Team won D1 State Championship in 2011
- Set school record for points by a defenseman in one season, with 26 points (senior year), and in a career with 74 points
- Played three season of field hockey, where she was team captain her senior year and earned Offensive MVP and leading scorer honors in 2013.
- Played four seasons of varsity golf, and served as team captain her senior season
- One season of post-grad ice hockey at Kent School in Kent, Conn.
- Team won Founder’s League Championship and led an undefeated season
- One season of post-grad field hockey at Kent School
- Team MVP and leading scorer, also earned WNEPSAC All-Star honors
- Earned high honors all four terms at Hingham
- Perfect attendance and High Honors both semesters at Kent School
- Member of Student Government and a facilitator for the Anti-Defamation League
Personal:
- Daughter of Tony Messina and Christine Falvey
- Tony played hockey at the University of Vermont (1980-1984), and coaches the Hingham boys’ hockey team
- Has one sister (Olivia)
- Aunt, Carol Falvey, graduated from Holy Cross in 1977
