The Lead: Catlin Brown posted four goals and two assists for the Bulldogs as the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team fell to Bryant, 14-3, on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bryant opened the scoring early, but freshman midfielder Emma Gill quickly evened the score at 1-1 when she netted a goal past Bryant goalie Samantha Santeramo with 25:15 left in the first half.
- Bryant then closed the half with four unanswered goals to make the score 5-1.
- The Bulldogs opened the second half with five unanswered goals to increase their lead to 10-1.
- Then, freshman attacker Maggie Funk and freshman midfielder Audrey Mandaro each found the back of the net for the Crusaders to make the score 10-3.
- Bryant finished the game with four straight goals for the 14-3 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bryant outshot Holy Cross, 29-17.
- Junior goalie Julia Maloney made four saves for the Crusaders and freshman Juliana Kubler posted one, while Santeramo had eight saves.
- Bryant secured 10 draw controls, while Holy Cross had nine. Bryant had 16 ground balls, while Holy Cross picked up 14.
- The Crusaders went 1-4 on free-position shots, while the Bulldogs went 2-4.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Funk's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
