• The Lead: Freshman goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante made seven saves for the Crusaders, but the Holy Cross field hockey team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lehigh on Friday night in Bethlehem, Pa.

 HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lehigh came out with a strong first half, outshooting the Crusaders 11-4 and earning seven penalty corner opportunities, but the Crusaders defense was able to limit their shots on net to four, each stopped by LaPlante.
• The Mountain Hawks broke the 0-0 tie in the 45th minute of play, as Marissa Glatt gained the ball off a penalty corner and scored with a low shot.
• Holy Cross was able to generate more offense in the second half, pulling even on shot attempts at 6-6 and leading in penalty corners at 5-4, but the Crusaders were unable to find the back of the net.
• The Crusaders earned two penalty corners in the final ten minutes of play, but a pair of shots from sophomore Emily Loprete were blocked in front of the net.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• LaPlante made seven saves for the Crusaders.
• Paige Innarella made four saves for Lehigh.
• Shots attempted were 17-10 in favor of the Mountain Hawks.
• Loprete led the Crusaders with four attempted shots, including two on net.
