THE BASICS

Location: Hutsell-Rosen Track (Auburn, Ala.) ; Reggie Atkins Track and Field Facility (Durham, N.H.) 
The Lead: The Holy Cross men's track and field team traveled to two meets this weekend as select student-athletes went to the Tiger Classic in at Auburn University on Saturday afternoon while others traveled to compete in a tri-meet versus New Hampshire with Maine. Senior co-captain Trevor Dutton (Burlington, Mass.) led the Crusaders at the Tiger Classic with a career-best time in the 1,500-meter run, while junior Christopher Faires (Rye, N.Y.), sophomores Kyle Cunningham (Wilmington, Mass.), John Bentivegna (Staten Island, N.Y.) and William Raven (Newburyport, Mass.) all posted career-best times in their respective events versus New Hampshire. 

TIGER CLASSIC 

  • Junior Francisco Tejidor (Coral Gables, Fla.) posted the top Crusader finish, placing ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.60. 
  •  Dutton posted a new career-best time in the 1,500-meter run as he placed 16th with a time of 4:01.51. 

NEW HAMPSHIRE WITH MAINE 

  • In the 110-meter hurdles, Raven ran a career-best time of 16.12 seconds and placed seventh.
  • Freshman James Donahue (Bronxville, N.Y.) had the top Holy Cross finish on the day, placing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.67. 
  • Bentivegna recorded a ninth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:17.48. 
  • The 4 x 400 meter relay team comprised of senior Jake Griffin (Billerica, Mass.), junior James Harrison (Bronxville, N.Y.), sophomore Benjamin Ghiano (Iselin, N.J.) and junior Matt Luizzi (Albany, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in seventh with a time of 3:47.12. 
  • In the long jump, Faries and Cunningham set new career-best distances in their respective events. 
  • Faries posted a career-best distance in the long jump at 5.59 meters and placed 14th, while Cunningham cleared a distance of 33.95 meters and recorded an 18th place finish. 

UP NEXT 

  • The Crusaders return to the track on Saturday, April 11 as they travel to Amherst, Mass. for the Minuteman Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
